How Can Sore Throat Be Treated?

Hello. I am looking for uses of lidocaine viscous oral solution. I have a really bad sore throat and warm salt water has not helped much. I was prescribed the lidocaine solution for hemmoroids and I wanted to know if it would help soothe this horrible soar throat? Thanks.

Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

You cannot use lidocaine solution for your sore throat,
If I were your treating doctor,I would recommend,
-Antibiotic course of erythromycin 3-4 times a day / doxycycline twice a day for 5-7 days to cure the infection and analgesics like acetaminopehn twice a day for 3 days.(prescription drug)
-Dextrometrophan lozenges and steam inhalation to soothe the throat.
-Adequate hydration and drinking a glass of warm water will help.
-Avoid smoking or exposure to environmental pollutants.Avoid spicy and fried food.
-Betadine gargles 3-4 times a day will relieve the pain.
If symptoms are not resolves within a week, certain investigations like throat swab culture will be neede.
If there is also retrosternal burning sensation, possibility of gastrooesophageal reflux disease need to be ruled out.

Hope this information helps.
wish you good health.
