How Can Soreness In The Mouth Be Treated?

My husband was cutting mesquite trees and brought home several thorns which he washed. I got some food stuck in my teeth and he gave me one to use as a toothpick. It worked but two days later my mouth is so sore. Should I go to the hospital and get medicine?
