I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis / disc degeneration by my doctor. I had back surgery in February 2015...a neurosurgeon (Dr. Matt Al Khadi) performed a hemilaminectomy to remove a 7mm diameter synovial cyst that was impinging on my spinal cord around the L4-L5 vertebrae...it had caused a drop foot on my left side. The surgery alleviated the chronic pain and corrected the drop foot (although the doctor had warned me beforehand that the drop foot would not likely be reversed by the surgery). Almost two years later, In March of this year I appear to have reinsured my back while overdoing it cutting up a downed tree with a chainsaw and carrying the pieces up to my back patio to split later (with a hydraulic splitter). I am currently undergoing physical therapy 2 times a week - application of mild electrical current to ease the spasming, and a chiropractor adjusting my lower spine. My primary care physician put me on Flexoril and gave me a 30 day supply of Tylenol-3 (5-325 dosage). I do not like to take the Vicadin or Tylenol 3 (same?) and am leery of long term use of opioids. I am a 54 year old petroleum geologist, and am trying to figure out a longer term pain management solution for what I think is a condition I will have to live with. All Cheech and Chong jokes aside, would medical use of cannabis be a possible solution. I tried marijuana when in high school and college and didn t like the goofy sensation it created in me, and have never used it since the early 1980s. Can a person with a bona ride medical condition get THC in pill form somI don t have to go through all the headshop silliness? Or is there a reputable medical source of cannabis if I had a prescription. Thanks. Bryce McKee, Sewickley Hills, PA
