Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a carrier of staph and have survived an infection in my ankle that was staph graham negative, staph graham positive, bacterial and strepp! I am scheduled for my 13 th surgery on my left foot and am supposed to Wash with hypo lenses and use Bactraban nasal ointment for 2 days before my surgery. From what I can tell Mupirocin is the same as Bactraban; however, one article says to not use in your nose and another says to use in your nose. I have a small amount from a previous vaginal infection. The pharmacies here do not have the nasal version, can I use the ointment in my nose? Thank you... Nervous infection survivor, Chris
