How Can Stomach Cramps Be Treated?

Good evening. My 14 yr old son has had severe stomach crampsfor the past couple days and was seen a couple days ago. The PA diagnosed him with something viral that needs to run its course. The flu and strep tests came back as negative and given a nausea rx. He has not regurgitated at this point, no fever, no chills, no loss of appetite, he cannot remember if he had bowel movement yesterday. He has yet to have one today. The pain travels throughout his abdomen, not in a central area. My question....at what point do I take him to the pediatrician and is there any household remedy I can use?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sometimes due to irritant food or viral infection children gets abdominal cramps and diarrhea. If no fever and vomiting is where you need to do the following things -
-Put him on ORS (WHO approved). Dissolving in one-liter drinking water. Give it to him instead of water.
-For cramps give him tablet dicyclomine twelve hourly or on required basis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regard,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
