How Can Sunburn On The Legs Be Treated?

I now have severe sunburn after 6 hours kayaking yesterday. This morning I find I am unable to walk due what feels like bond crushing pain. I have been taking ibuprofen 800 as well as lots of aloe gel on legs. What is going on, why does it hurt so badly?
