Unfortunately lower extremity swelling is a common side effect of Calcium channel blockers even at low doses. At 80 years old, a systolic blood pressure of 140 would be considered well controlled. Depending upon your medical history, there are almost certainly different classes of drugs that could help keep your blood pressure controlled. I suspect that you would likely have similar swelling with other calcium channel blockers.
