How Can Swelling And Numbness Around A Cartilage Piercing Site Be Treated?

I have a cartliage piercing in my left ear (got it about 4 days go), recently it has been hurting and swelling up (all red and warm to the touch); its now numb and i cant feel much in the top portion of my ear. I ve been cleaning it with salt water like i was instructed every day since i got it done. Should i be concerned about the swelling and numbness? is there an easy was to reverse the effects without removing the piercing?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Semen like an infection to me. I also suggest applying an antiseptic cream like T-bact thrice a day and start oral antibiotics like Augmenting Duo twice a day for at least 6 days. Also, I suggest getting it reviewed by the dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
