How Can Swelling And Pain In The Ribcage Be Treated?

I tripped and the top of my ribcage (not my breast) took the full brunt of the fall on the hard back of the sofa. It felt like I had thumped my liver or something. This was hours ago and the pain is getting worse. There is slight swelling and I cannot inhale properly. I suspect this is a common reaction too banging yourself it s just that there is on going problems with my liver but I don t want to cry wolf to the hospital.
