How Can Swelling In The Ankle After A Mosquito Bite Be Treated?

Hi so about a week ago I got this mosquito bite on my ankle and about the next day I hit it on the wall and it started to swell up from both the hit and the bite. It’s about the size of a small baseball compared to my other ankle. I put aloe Vera gel on it to soothe it but nothing worked I am vary worried so please get back to me ASAP thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think the swelling is probably due to direct hit to wall. I suggest u see an orthopedics and take an x-ray film of ankle to rule out possibility of fracture and he will examine if there sprain to your ankle. Till then rest the limb,put ice around to reduce swelling,use a crepe bandage to decrease swelling and mobility of joint,elevate the limb when you lie on your bed. Take Diclofenac oral and ointment for pain relief.

The swelling is most probably from direct hit. Rest your limb, put ice, crepe bandage and elevate the limb.use analgesics for pain relief. See an orthopedics to evaluate and rule out fracture.
