How Can Swelling In The Feet Be Treated?

I dropped a jar of marinara sauce on foot. Now my great toe is swollen, throbbing and unable to bear weight on front of foot. I have ibuprofen 800 mg, elevated and iced. I am a RN and know there s not much I can do but top of foot and 2nd toe is also very swollen. Anything to be worried about or can I just let it ride its course? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The issue sounds to be acute hematoma formation following jar injury.

Though ice application will help to some extent, you need an additional intake of antibiotic as cephalosporin or else anti-inflammatory drugs with proteolytic enzymes as serratiopeptidase to break down the hematoma faster and earlier resolution.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
