MY 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAD HER TONSILS REMOVED YESTERDAY AND SHE HAS NOT SLEPT MUCH SINCE THE PROCEDURE. SHE KEEPS SPITTING AFTER THE PAIN MEDICATION SO I CAN T TELL HOW MUCH SHE IS GETTING. IS THERE ANY WAY TO HELP HER SLEEP AND REDUCE SWELLING IN HER THROAT?
hi mam/sir,generally tylenol with or without codeine is recommended for pain relief in children after tonsillectomy.high sedation is not advised as they may have airway edema(swelling) post surgery that may cause severe hypoxia and also sometimes respiratory failure.you please convince your child to take pain medication as pain relief is the major factor for sleep.hope you understand my point.any further doubts, please write to us.i wish she recovers soon.thank you.take care.bye.
