How Can Swelling In The Tonsils Be Treated?

I have swollen red tonsils. Had been to ent one week back and was given antibiotics and it went. Then I traveled for 3 days and got infection. Again I went back to ent and he gave stronger antibiotics and some allergic control tablets. It's two days since I take it. It reduces the effect for sometime again I get scratch feeling

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swelling in the tonsils despite taking antibiotics.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day. You should keep your head elevated while sleeping. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order test like swab test and can do physical examination with laryngoscope. Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants , diphenhydramine and expectorants. You should avoid eating spicy and heavy food and reduce intake of dairy products .
