How Can Swelling Of Face, Causing Difficulty In Talking, Be Treated?

My face is swollen and I can't talk as comfortable and smoothly as normal. I have had this before about a half a dozen times, but I am going on three weeks now, and need some resolution. I teach and it is very hard to do that when you cannot talk well.

Hi..
Thanks for writing to us..

As per your complain swelling on face that has occurred recurringly can be due to allergic reaction caused by some foods[common are sea food, nut , milk, eggs etc] or medication while can also be due to other causes like any skin cosmetic, leather, latex etc..

Another cause can be Cellulitis and facial space infections..

I would therefore suggest you to consult an Oral surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like blood test and x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

In case of allergic reaction ruling out the cause and avoiding exposure to allergen can help in preventing frequency of symptoms..
To relieve the symptoms anti allergics and steroids can be advised to you..

In case of cellulitis or space infections antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications along with cool compresses can help..

Hope your query is resolved..

Regards.
