I VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND A DOCTOR TO REFER ME TO A THROAT SPECIALIST. MY TONSILS ARE SWOLLEN SO BAD THAT IT S HARD TO BREATH, SOMETIMES I COUGH UP BLOOD OR WHAT SEEMS LIKE SKIN. THE SPRINGFIELD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER TOLD ME IN JULY THAT IT WAS A SORE THROAT, THAT I D BE FINE, I WENT BACK ABOUT THREE DAYS LATER. THEY TREATED ME FOR STREP BUT THE STREP TEST CAME BACK NEGATIVE. SEEMED LIKE I WAS GETTING BETTER BUT NOW IT GOT WORSE. I THEN WENT TO URGENT CARE, THEY TESTED ME FOR MONO AND STREP BUT THAT CAME BACK NEGATIVE. THEY GAVE ME AN ANTIBIOTIC AND STUFF FOR SWELLING BUT I M HAVING PROBLEMS BREATHING AND MY TONSILS LOOK SO BAD. THIS BEEN GOING ON SINCE JUNE. WHAT SHOULD I DO? DOCTORS ARE SAYING I GOT TO WAIT TILL JANUARY TO BE SEEN. I CAN T WAIT THAT LONG. I M MISERABLE.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen tonsils which is leading to tonsillitis which is causing pain in throat and spreading it to ear, neck, jaw due to infection of swollen lymph nodes. I would suggest you to consult ENT Specialist as you will require thorough evaluation. You should take combination of antibiotic along with decongestants. You need anti-inflammatory medication as well. You should incorporate some lifestyle changes like avoid spicy, fried and oily food. Avoid cold beverages. Get adequate rest and do salt water gargles several times a day. Drink plenty of water to keep the throat moist and prevent dehydration. Drink Warm liquids like tea or warm water with honey. You should no smoke at all if you do. You can go for tonsillectomy as well after proper prescription by doctor if condition reoccur frequently.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
