Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Syncope Due To Severe Coughing Be Treated?
Is there any thing I can do to help prevent coughing which is causing syncope. I have tried cough syrups and RX cough meds none of which works. The chest congestion has mostly subsided. Still have an iron or blood taste in the back of my throat which is the cause of my cough.
If dry cough, that is persisting, should: - run upper endoscopy to rule out stomach hyperacidity issues - run chest x-ray and spirometry to evaluate the lung's function - if taking any medications on daily basis like ACE inhibitors for high blood pressure, then, should discuss with your caring doctor to change therapy - keep good oral hygiene - take oral antihistamine at night.
Discuss this further with your caring doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
