How Can Tender And Painful Spots On The Scalp Be Treated?
I have tenderness and pain sporadically in small spots on my scalp. Hurts to touch and sometimes they ache on their own. They usually last a couple days to a couple weeks. This is only on the scalp, not a deeper head pain. Sometimes I get an intense, sharp pain in a spot on my scalp that lasts a few seconds and after that fades, I m left with the tender spot on my scalp that persists for awhile but other times I don t even know I have a tender spot until I run a brush over it. I ve had this issue for while now but it seems to be getting more often thana year ago. Any idea what could cause this?
Hi. As per your case history you are having scalp folliculitis. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
