How Can The Date Of Conception Be Confirmed?

I had intercourse 8/7/17 which was a day before ovulation and I was fertile. My last period was 8/22/17. After that I missed my period for 22 days and had negative home pregnancy tests and a negative blood test at 13 days late. I took 3 tests 21 days late and they all came back with a faint positive. I took a digital last night and it said I was pregnant. I don’t feel pregnant without occasional cramps and some nausea. I’m afraid something is wrong with the baby because it showed up late and I don’t feel it. Also I don’t know how far along I am since it’s a faint positive and I’ve been 24 days late so far.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The best way to evaluate if you are pregnant and how long you have been pregnant and if it is normal or something wrong with the pregnancy it is recommended to have the BHCG blood test. This hormone increases at least 60% every 2 days with a healthy pregnancy. So you can have a BHCG test done and if it is positive for pregnancy than you are pregnant and you can repeat it in 2 days. Normally it might get double in 2 days and if it has not increased with at least 60% in 2 days than there is something wrong with the pregnancy. If the BHCG is increasing more than 60% in 2 days this is a healthy pregnancy.
A vaginal ultrasound might also give extra important information and might be recommended as an important part of the evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
