How Can This Infected Foot Be Better Treated?

My father is diabetic is 80 years old is in a nursing home and just got a blister on his foot, it got infected and they brought him to a foot doctor and he got antibiotics. All of this happened very quickly within a day. I'm really concerned about him losing his foot over this. What else can they be doing?

Dear Sir/Madam
I fully understand your concern. The best way of management is
1) Drain the blister
2)clean the infected area
3) control sugars
4)if pus is present, send for pus culture & sensitivity to know the offending organism and antibiotics acting against it
5) give antibiotics as per the sensitivity report
6) advice regarding proper foot care and proper footwear.
I am confident he will do well.
Wishing him a speedy recovery!
