How Can Throat Congestion Be Treated?

I feel like I have something caught in my throat, especially in the mornings after I get up. I cough until I can clear my throat, which is very annoying. Also, my throat is very sensitive and if I get a tickle in my throat, I cough uncontrollably, sometimes throwing up. I have had these problems for quite some time.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your throat problem.

Most of the morning related throat issues are because of Gastro esophageal reflux disease that is when stomach acid regurgitate to esophagus or even throat too. It leads to mucosal erosion and sensitive throat.
It can also be related to smoking too, if you are a late night smoker, which leads to allergic condition.

You need to single out the cause and take medication as per the situation. If I would have been your concerned doctor I would like to prescribe pantoprazole for such condition.
Also do saline gargles before sleep.

Hope the answer to your query, incase any other questions write back to me, we will like to help.
Regards
