How Can Throat Infection And Pain Under The Tongue Be Treated?

Hi There My problem stems from a bad ear throat infection back in 1990. I have run my legs off had surgery. Part of my hyoid bone, salivary gland, teeth, and tonsils. My pain is getting worse and worse no Dr seems to know what is the cause. It started after the infection with very little pain under my tongue. When I eat mustard, mild sauce my tongue now burns very bad have to drink several glasses of water for it to subside. The pain under my tongue is quite bad. I am on pain meds but nothing seems to help. My nose is very dry now I did feel relief a few yrs ago with acupuncture. They put the needle under my tongue it hit something and I felt salavia come back it hurt so bad but did not last at all. I am wondering if a gland would be rotten or something as the pain is always in the same place and is getting worse with time. The Doctors don t say stress but I do wonder as I cant think straight. I wish that I could find a Doctor that could help me. Thank you so much if you want to know anything more just ask. :)

Hello,

As a dentist, I have reached a point where I can precisely say you have problem with salivary glands, including parotid gland. Due to that you have problem with ears, throat and you feel dryness of tongue, burning from possibly due to xerostomia and blockade of ducts of glands.

You need to get at least proper clinical examination and sialography of salivary glands where the precisely status and health of glands will be studied. I suggest you visit to the hospital and see an oral medicine and radiology specialist only. He will address it properly. I suggest you till then take plenty of liquids, orange juice, chew gum etc. to stimulate the flow.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
