How Can Thyroid Dysfunction Be Treated?

I have thyroid issues and taking Synthroid. It was increased from 88mcg to 100 mug about 6 minutes or so ago. I was doing good and in January I lost 5 lbs and was feeling good. In February started to decline. I m tired, depressed, have trouble breathing when exercising or exerting myself. I m also struggling with fatigue and hot flashes. I m at 160 lbs and trying to lose weight. I ve been exercising but with my symptoms I can t control my eating habits. I m not sure what is going on. My endocrinologist is decreasing my needs back to 88 mug because my tsh is low but t4 is normal. Feeling very frustrated because I don t understand what is going on with my body.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is good to know you are under medication and not neglecting yourself. I need to make it very clear that you need to control your eating habits. Take green tea, that will reduce your appetite. You need to lose weight. Encourage yourself to go for regular walk and do exercises religiously. Depression, fatigue, hot flashes are side effect of your thyroid problem. Don't worry as your weight gets controlled you will feel better. Eat healthy. don't let in frustration. Stay happy for anxiety and stress will worsen your situation. Go for regular check up to monitor your thyroid levels.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr Nupur K
