How Can Tinea Capitis Be Treated?

Good Night Dr. Rynne, I have recently discovered that I have Tinea capitis (fungal infection of the hair scalp). I wanted to find out if there are any OTC oral medication that can be taken and also any cream that can be used for remediation of same? Many thanks, Joanne Stevens YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

You can use Griseofulvin for 6 to 8 weeks of therapy. Other over the counter options are Terbinafine, Itraconazole, and Fluconazole. You can also use over the counter creams for local application.

Hope I have answered your query.
