How Can Urinary Retention While On Nitrofurantoin Be Treated?

I am taking nitrofurantoin mono/mac 100mg twice daily for the last 2 days. I woke up tonight feeling the need to pee , but unable todo so. Before now, I had had bladder infections and had been taking nitrofurantoin 50mg once daily for over a year. What to do?
