How Can Vaginal Itching Be Treated?

I m having some problems with a slight vaginal itch. I have no discharge And I haven t had a change in scent. I have been using a lotion on my thighs (I have very dry skin) and feel that may have affected my pH balance. I bought cortisone 10 feminine itch, but it says for external use only does this mean I cannot use it around the opening of my vaginal enterance? The itch is not inside the hole, it s directly around it. Any ideas?

Hello,

-It would be best not to use a cortisone product close to the vagina as there can be increased absorption and also cortisone decreases local immunity and can cause aging of the tissues.

It also doesn't treat the underlying problem, just decreases the itching.

While the dosage is generally safe for short term use on regular (non-mucous membrane) skin, you might want to consider using apple cider vinegar.

Either you can take a bath with a cup of ACV in the tub water, or apply it to a wash cloth and press that against the area.

You can use the wash cloth 2-3 times a day. ACV is a very mild acid which can make the area less hospitable to yeast overgrowth, which may be causing the itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
