How Can Vertigo Be Treated?

I have an off balance gait. I have a ruptured ear drum since December 9 2017 . I am seeing a specialist and the hole is closing but not all the way. I have loss of hearing in that ear. I was in the hospital in De ember with dehydration which caused renal failure. I am not dizzy just off balance.

Hello,

Just off balance certainly can be from an ear problem. There are two groups of ways of treating it. One is to treat the ear condition. The other is to treat the brain input that is imbalanced from one ear to the other causing imbalance. Damping down the brain with anti-epileptics and nerve stabilizers has some benefit. But the main way is to work with the higher brain functions to damp down the feeling. Skaters do this to not get dizzy with going around a lot. Basically, it is a physical therapy regimen to get used to it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
