Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been retaining water for over a week now. About 4 pounds. I ve been drinking a lot of water and I urinate often. So I know that s not the problem. I m not eating salty foods. I don t know what else this could be. It happens for about 2 weeks every month. Different times. It s not associated with my menstrual cycle. It s very uncomfortable and my salivary glands also get swollen and my face looks round for 2 weeks. My feet, legs, hands swell too.
I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your water retention.
As per your history it seems to me that you have a good medical knowledge but I will present you some terms if you are accompanied by it it can be water retention ; puffiness of face, swollen legs, fluid in abdomen (accitis) etc.
If you have all or one of the above symptoms that means you are having fluid retention.
