How Can Weight Be Kept Under Control While Suffering From Diabetes?
recently diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic age 60 male on May 15th weight at that time was 212 Lbs . now I m at 191 Lbs. My morning was at 99 after breakfast was 103 two hours and a half later . After a late dinner my test was 160 at 1 hr and 50 minutes I had rice and fried walleye with cuke slices in Wishbone Greek marinated for two days and some slices of tomato 1/2 , and 3 slices of dry coffee toast and about 10 Oz. of milk . I overdid it just to see what would happen and my test was under 180 as mentioned as a target range for a diabetic 1 to 2 hours after a meal . I have not started a regimen of Metformin since I just got my Glucometer from the VA . I m thinking of keeping my eating habits at a normal level and continuing with a no sugar diet and reduced carbs as I have been . I will monitor my levels closely and not start the meds yet . Do you think this is a wise course of action ?

My dear friend , your main problem is not diabetes but your obesity. Your fasting 99 & PP 103 mg% blood sugar are normal. Keep your weight around 180 lbs, you won't need oral diabetic drugs.Do regular 30 mins walk daily, take diabetic diet, no smoking, no alcohol. Get your ECG done & talk to me after 4 weeks.
