How Can Wrist Swelling With Pain Due To Trauma Be Treated?

i hurt my wrist a year ago playing bowling apparently i suffered soft tissue damage and not taken seriously by casulty. it took a long time to get back to normal and then last weekend when descending mount Snowdon I had to put my hand down to stop myself from falling and now it is swollen and painful all over again.....I went to my GP who presribed Diclofenic and paracetamol however I'm finding it extremly painful to use my hand any action causes me pain. my job is in data maangement and I'm havigng reat difficulty doing anything...should I go back to casualty?
