How Common Is To Die From A Stroke?

My mom, age 43, was just taken in an ambulance to the hospital...Im really worried...they say they think it might be a stroke and theyre going to run tests...I don't know any symptoms...but Im scared...how common is it to die from a stroke? Are there levels of seriousness or are all strokes completely awful? Is there a risk of dying after she had the stroke or do people only die during? Any information helps. thank you
