How Could Tampon Left Inside Vagina For A Long Period Effect Health?

Hi, I just discovered that I had a tampon left in for probably six weeks. I had noticed a terrible smell and discharge. I just got my period and I thought everything was normal. I went to bed without putting a tampon in and I just discovered a nasty smelling blood covered tampon when I went to the bathroom this morning. I am not showing any signs of tss, What do I do now?
