How Do I Find The Right Specialist For A Stiff, Scarred Finger From Childhood Syndactyly Surgery Causing Pain And Limited Grip?

I had congenital birth defects of my hand that were later corrected surgically throughout my childhood. Among those was a complete syndactyly of my only two fingers (not including a thumb) that was surgically corrected. I am now 32 and have thick scarring along the bottom of my last finger which has caused the finger to be stuck in a contracted position. It has gotten progressively more and more uncomfortable and is accompanied by a lot of popping noises and feelings through the proximal and carpometacarpal joints. In addition to being uncomfortable I feel like this has a serious impact on my grip strength which is very important in my job. Does this sound like something that can be corrected, and if so, how would I go about finding the right doctor to do so? In the past I have seen orthopedic physicians who were reluctant to even consider any treatment or procedures of my hand without it suffering from some new and significant trauma first.
