How Do I Wean Off Parnate Taken For Depression, Anxiety And PTSD?

Hello I am wanting to withdraw from Parnate after many years being on it with a couple breaks that worked short term or not at all and returned to Parnate which has been the best out of many meds. I forgot however of all the other meds. I have tried since I was 16years old, I am now 51.Over the last three years my Depression/Anxiety and P.T.S.D. has worsened due to Peri-Menopause. My negative thoughts are constant and my behavior has changed such as distancing myself from being social. I rarely smile or laugh and just think I am on this medication with no benefit. My Psychiatrist does agree but there seems to be no facility to do the withdrawing. I had thought maybe to go to a Retreat maybe in Kyneton Where they do have medical staff, it is called Innisfree and is the closese to home for me. I am wanting to withdraw from Parnate to see if I can start to feel real emotions again as I live in my head and feel very disconnected in the world. My mind creates agony for me and prevents me moving on after events occur due to my numbness. I could go on and on. I hope this gives some picture of my situation. I have had lots and lots of counseling, courses I have done and so there is knowledge but feel I have gone backwards emotionally.

Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

I think, if you are not feeling any benefit with Parnate, then better to wean it off. In that case, you nee another antidepressant that could take it place. I would suggest paroxetine in your case. It would control depressive as well as anxiety symptoms. You can also try to do some life style modification or relaxation exercise.

Thanks
