Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Concerning the info that there is no danger in kissing or in sharing dishes with someone who has Hepatitis C: What is the rationale behind it? HCV virus was found in saliva, so the HCV gets into your mouth when you kiss someone who has HepC. And then in the evening when you brush/floss your teeth, the gums often bleed so that this HCV which previously got into your mouth can get into your bloodstream. ==> Why is this not a way how Hepatitis C is transmitted?

Hello, Welcome to HCM,
Hepatitis C is a contagious liver disease that ranges in severity from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious lifelong illness that attacks the liver. It results from infection with the Hepatitis C virus (HCV),
Hepatitis C is usually spread when blood from a Hepatitis C infected person enters the body of someone who is not infected. Today most people become infected with the Hepatitis C virus by sharing needles or other equipment to inject drugs.
Majority of people with Hepatitis C do not have any symptoms. Some people may have mild to severe symptoms which includes fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine and jaundice.
Usually symptoms occur with in 6–7 weeks after exposure but this can happen from 2 weeks to 6 months. Thank you.
