How Early After A Missed Period Is An Ultrasound Advisable?
hai... my last lmp date 1s may1. when i tested for pregnanacy through the kit it gave me positive .. when doctor suggested me to conduct the ultrasound scan on 13 of june (not through the vagina)it didnt show anything.even i don hv any problems like vomiting,nausea.. starting i had some back aches.so which is the right time to do ultrasound scan.. i am worried.
An early ultrasound is usually done at 6-9 weeks in the first trimester of pregnancy to confirm the estimated due date more accurately by measuring the fetus, to confirm the fetal heartbeat, make sure pregnancy is in normal location (in the uterus) as well as to rule out ectopic pregnancy and multiple pregnancies.
So, in view of the above you can have an early ultrasound as suggested by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
