How Effective Is Plan B Emergency Contraceptive In Preventing Pregnancy?

Hello, my girlfriend and I intend on having sex with me finishing in her. She does have an IUD in place, however, in order to console her I offered to buy her a Plan B pill because she is up for the idea of me finishing in her BUT is concerned about being part of the failure statistic. Is there anything wrong with coupling the IUD with a Plan B? Is there potential that it could be counterproductive? If you get the chance, please let me know.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
I understand your concern.
Actually IUD & plan B are both meant for contraception.
IUD offers continuous contraception till it's in place Failure rate of IUD is very less NOt even 2 %
While plan B is for emergency contraception. IT is used to prevent conception in unexpected unprotected sex.
Though they don't have counter action, it was wrong to couple both methods .. in the sense that-
- it was un necessary
- It will cause un necessary loading with high dose hormones in plan B.. resulting in temporary menstrual irregularity.
Thanks.
