How Effective Is Vascepa?

I just got my cholesterol blood work done and my LDL is: 217 CHOLESTEROL 300 HDL CHOLESTEROL 69 TRIGLYCERIDES 70 CHOLESTEROL/HDL RATIO 4.3 NON-HDL CHOLESTEROL 231 Im 59yr old female, 138 lbs. blood pressure 120/74 5 4 ...bike ride and walk at this point.. I take synthroid 25mg thyroid blood results were good..T4, free 1.0 TsH & T4free 4.18 I dont want to take statins.....Im interested in VASCEPA g 1gm that my dr. is talking to me about. LOVAZA is very expensive but vascepa is getting better reviews...what are your options at this point? Going to have my first Echo ....plus they said I have a very very slight heart murmur.. no chest pains...nothing... thanks , Marie

Vascepa (icosapent) can be used together with a low-fat and low-cholesterol diet to reduce triglycerides in adults with severely high triglycerides but your triglyceride level is 70 at present and hence does not warrant use of Vascepa.
