How Effective Is Girdlestone Surgery?

My mom is 91 years old she had a hip replacement 12 yrs ago and her hip is loosening and the ball is leaning into her pelvic. She's thinking of having the girdlestone surgery. Will she be able to walk, sit, bend? She is now confined to a wheelchair. Will her quality of life be better?
