Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take Cymbalta, amphetamine salts 20mg x2 per day, levothyroxine 0.075 1 per day and over the counter vitamin D. I continue to deal with memory loss and it seems to be getting worse. I do show signs of anxiety and since I lost my sister 4 years ago I've been on Cymbalta, I was on Effexor but I had severe headaches when I missed a dose. Without the Cymbalta or "depression" med I experience crying spells for no know reason, sometimes I'm extremely. For taking the salts I've only been on this medication for a little over a year, I've been taking this med for concentration with my work plus trying to take some coding classes and I can't remember a paragraph that I would have just read. Alzheimer's does run in my family, my grandmother on my mother's side had Alzheimer's but I don't recall she started at my age which is 46. Any advise or direction you can share?
I think memory loss what you have is due to depression. This is called pseudo-dementia. That mainly happens due to lack of concentration in depression. In that case, memory lose would improve with taking antidepressant. Cymbalta has good effect on somatic symptoms, but not much on depressive symptoms. Better to discuss with your psychiatrist about the drugs and try to get another antidepressant. In case you need our help, you can contact us.
Thanks
