How Is HPV Virus Infection Transmitted?
I have recently learned I have the HPV virus. I am a female soon to be 60 years old. I have been married 38 years to my first sex partner, i had sex with one other male about a year before marrying. How did I get this virus; I know I have never been with anyon else, my huband claims nor has he. I am on medcation vagifem. Help

Genital HPV infection is only acquired through intimate contact with an infected sexual partner.
The infection can remain silent for years or even decades, therefore, the only people you could have got it from is either through your pre-marital sexual contact Or from your husband.
Unfortunately while there are tests to know the HPV status in females, there are none available to confirm HPV infection in males unless a male develops visible warts/growth.
HPV infection with high risk HPV types 16, 18 is associated with risk of cervical cancer, therefore, the need for periodic Pap tests to look for any early cancerous cell changes, if one is known to be infected with high risk HPV types (type 16 and type 18)
