Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have to go for an ECG soon, and have two specific questions: Will any electrodes be affixed to my legs, and if so, in what location? Will I have to wear a hospital gown? Thank you for your answers. Being male, I doubt I will have to take my bra off :)
Most people call an ECG an EKG but the real term is ECG. You will have one electrode on each ankle and one on each arm and several on your chest, mostly left side and one on each side. It does not hurt, Sometimes if your wear a button down shirt they don't make you wear a gown but you will have to take your bra off. It just depends on the Dr or who gives you the ECG. It is up to them if you have to wear a gown or not. It is a very quick test.
