How Is Citrobacter Freundii Complex Contracted?
Hi,
I've not had intercourse in four years, I'm a clean freak, in pharmaceutical sales, sold Cipro IV/PO, respect bugs! Five weeks ago, I tried on a pair of levis in a store, I was wearing a thong (not much coverage/protection), my fault? I developed a rash, large rash, covered my buttocks, ground, etc. Vagina was clean/clear. Horrible itching. My doctor took a culture, it came back as citrobacter freundii complex, feces? How did I contract this? How serious is this? I'm on cipro 500 mg/BID-7-days. I have 20 hummingbird feeders, I am exposed to their excrement every two weeks. Did I inhale this bug or was it from trying on those levis five weeks ago?

Citrobacter freundii is spread by direct contact with persons working in a hospital environment, through ingestion of environmental sources (fecal to oral-stool to mouth) or from one person to the next.
The last is the most common mode of transmission.
This means that it could by ingestion of the pathogen or contact with another person who had this infection.
It is unlikely related to the birds mentioned.
