How Is It Possible To Have A Heart Attack At Age 19?

How is it possible to have a heart attack at age 19?
NEW YORK (TICKER) —New York Rangers prospect Alexei Cherepanov died during a game in his native Russia on Monday night. He was 19. The New York Post reported that Cherepanov suffered a heart attack and collapsed on the bench during Avangard Omsk’s game against Vityav Chekhov. Former Rangers captain Jaromir Jagr had just finished a shift with Cherepanov and was talking to the him when the Russian suddenly collapsed. How is this possible? Especially for an athlete who must be in shape.

The term "heart attack" covers a great latitude in describing problems of the heart. An "Athlete Heart Problem" generally involves the electrical system in the heart and the heart goes into fibrillation rather than beating. That is why young people die of heart problems. Generally an inherited deficiency that cannot be diagnosed in advance. My twin brother died with this at an early age and he was very athletic. Most normal heart attacks are caused by blood clots.
