How Is Occult Test To Be Taken?

Hi, I am 46 years old I did an occult and normal stool test. My normal stool test was negative but my occult test came positive. After few researches I found out I need to do some diet before the test but my doc didn t tell me. I am confused as I had no pain but had burning sensation in my stomach. Please guide

Hello to healthcare magic,
Before test you should stop : any NSAIDs ( Nimesil, Naproxen, etc), Aspirin, Anticoagulants because they may cause small ulcers that can bleed. If you have bleeding hemorrhoids you should also postpone the test. The test should not be done during period (if you are a female). A certain diet should be done- avoid red meat, beet, radishes, cabbage, brocolli, melon because they can give false positive results. Citrus fruits and vitamin C can give false negative results.
