How Is Ovarian Cyst Cancer Diagnosed?

I had a cyst on my ovary that grew so big I needed surgery. My doctor tested the fluid in my cyst after they removed it for cancer cells and tests came back positive. But they did a blood test on me for cancer before surgery and it came back negative. I need more answers please help.

The blood test done was perhaps CA 125. It need not be elevated in all cases of ovarian cancer. Though CA 125 is raised in most of serous ovarian malignancy, it is normal in mucinous tumors. It is not a diagnostic marker and treatment decisions are not made depending on its value. Since the fluid has come as positive for cancer , the diagnosis of cancer is confirmed and you need treatment.
