How Long After Having Late Periods Can I Take A Pregnancy Test?

hi there i took a pregnancy test last month on february the 3rd and went to my obgyn and they said yes i was pregnant i figured i was pregnant and believed so because i didnt get my period on feb 8th like excpected...but ended up at the er on the 9th because of severe cramps the doctor told me my urine came out that i was neg for pregnancy,and my obgyn explained it was a chemical pregnancy,i ended up getting my period on the 11th of february,my doctor explained it was just a late period,now its march 17th and i havent got my period i took a pregnancy test and it came out a clear positive sign could i be pregnant?

Hallow Dear,

The pregnancy test on urine gives best results after about 8-10 days missed period. Before that, there is always a chance of false negative results. First morning urine sample gives the best results of the test since the hormones are more concentrated in this sample.

There are other types of tests called as Beta hCH tests. These tests are very specific and sensitive and can be decisive even 2-3 days after or sometimes even before missed period.

The other alternative when the urine pregnancy test results are inconclusive even a week after missed period is to go for ultrasonography which can give direct visual evidence of pregnancy.
