How Long After The Removal Of Catheter Will Normal Urination Resume?

My husband had a TURP and now has a catheter for the next week. When its removed will he have a hard time urinating and he doesn t want another catheter inserted if he can t go. Does it take time to start urinating on your own after this procedure.

Hi.

Post-TURP there should be a significant improval in the flow of urine, so lets hope the procedure was indeed sucessful; if that is the case then he should go about a speedy recovery and also urinate on his own, not requiring a catheter reinsertion.

Best wishes.
