Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
1. Evion i.e. Vitamin E [tocopherol] is used internally as a supplementation in
cystic fibrosis and in
abetalipoproteinemia and externally in case of skin complexion but before opting for any health supplement kindly consult your attending physician regarding possible drug interactions and side effects.
2. Know the side effects of Vitamin E are:
- Since it is a fat-soluble vitamin thus can be stored by the body in the fat cells [adipose tissues] for future use, which means taking orally [supplements plus dietary intake] might cause Vitamin E toxicity
- Since vitamin E acts as an
anticoagulant, it can cause excess bleeding in persons taking warfarin by potentiating the anticoagulant action of warfarin.
- Large doses of Vitamin E may impair response to Iron supplementation, other symptoms include increased triglycerides level, decreased activity of the thyroid hormone and Vitamin K.
ADR [adverse drug reaction] includes:
hypertension, diarrhea, myopathy,
blurred vision, headache,
flatulence,
abdominal pain, thrombophlebitis
3. So instead of taking internally, you can opt for natural food products which are rich in Vitamin E like almonds, sunflower seeds, cooked spinach, mango, broccoli, kiwi, fish and use Vitamin E capsules externally [mixed with coconut oil, glycerine, aloe vera].
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Munish Sood
