How Long Can Topicort Be Used For Eczema?

I was given a sample tube of Topicort for a small eczema patch onhe side of my right eyeto the bridge of my nose by my dermatologist. She said to apply a thin film 2X a day. She said it should clear up in about 4 days. It was a sample so I received no drug insert. She is unavailable this weekend for me to contact her because she is at her daugher s wedding in DC. How many days can I use it before I should stop if it doesn t clear up?

Hello,

Topicort is effective for eczema. You can apply it for 10-12 days, it should get better but if not contact your treating doctor.

There is not a full cure for Eczema but the topical medications to heal the damaged skin & alleviate the symptoms.

Once your symptoms reduce stop using it. It should not be used for more than 3 weeks or as directed by your treating doctor.

Other effective medications are Antihistamines, antibiotics, barrier repair ointments, NSAIDS ointments & hydrocortisone creams.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
