How Long Can A Patient With Heart Functioning Up To 20% Live?

My father is 86 years old and has been hospitalized now for a week and tonight doctor told my sister that his heart is functioning at 15 to 20 %, and he will most likely die of an heart failure/attack, and there is nothing that can be done for him. How long does can he be expected to live with this condition?

HI
Well come to HCM
Even with the heart failure if the vital system is intact and responding well then patient can live for pretty good time, it would be very unpredictable if some one try to answer this query without clinical examination, because clinical examination would provide the possible information about this, still as I said, depend how the other organs are doing beside the heart failure, take care.
